(Frequently Asked Questions)

What airport do I fly into?
Make arrangements to fly into the RDU Airport (Raleigh-Durham). Please
arrange flight times with Program Associate, R. Erin Ridings, erin_ridings@unc.edu.
Can I bring my spouse or children? Do they have
to pay?
Children are not allowed, but your spouse can stay with
you at The Inn at Berry Hill. Your spouse will
not be able to eat meals with the group.
Can I arrive a few days early? Stay a few days late? NEW
Scholars can feel free to stay as long as they like at
the Berry Hill Plantation Resort. SEPHLI will only pay
accommodations for April 29 through May
1. The program will begin mid morning on
April 30. Scholars are not required to arrive Sunday. If
you would like to arrive early or stay late, please book
your reservations through R. Erin Ridings, Program Associate,

Will food and beverage be covered by SEPHLI?
Food and beverage will be provided continuously from Monday
morning until Wednesday lunch, where you will be sent off
with boxed lunches for the road.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled? What
if I cannot arrive by shuttle leave time?
Scholars are expected to arrive by shuttle leave time
(TBA). Missing the May Retreat will result in Scholar's
inability to participate in the rest of the twelve-month
program. SEPHLI expects a strong commitment from all Scholars. Please
contact Lisa Harrison, Program Director, if you cannot
attend the May Retreat, 919-843-5559.
If your flight is cancelled, or delayed, please alert SEPHLI
staff as soon as possible. Emergency contact telephone is
the Berry Hill Plantation Resort, 434-517-7000.
How long will it take to get to the resort from
the airport? Is a shuttle provided?
It takes 1.5 hours to get to the hotel from the airport.
Shuttle will be provided and covered by
SEPHLI. If you miss the shuttle, it is recommended
you rent a car to save costs. Please arrange flights
with Program Associate R. Erin Ridings, erin_ridings@unc.edu.
I live locally; can I commute to the on site program? NEW
It is a requirement that all SEPHLI scholars, even those
within commuting distance, stay on site with the cohort
to avoid tardiness of any kind and build a more cohesive
group. Scholars are not required to arrive Sunday.
Are personal charges, business services, etc. to
the room paid for?
No. All incidentals will be covered by the scholars. Internet
access is complimentary.
Is parking paid for?
Complimentary valet parking is provided.
Are vegetarian options available?
