Colonel Terry Walters: Keynote Speaker for the 11th Annual SEPHLI December Retreat
CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA -- Each year, Lisa Harrison and Erin Ridings, administrators to the Southeast Public Health Leadership Institute (SEPHLI) insist that the upcoming December Retreat trump the previous year’s retreat. This year, you’d probably agree.
December 10, 2007 began the 11th Annual December Retreat. This high-profile four-day leadership retreat was held at the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center hosting a motley group of distinguished leaders. The most notable was keynote speaker Colonel Terry Walters whose tremendously eloquent address on leadership moved every guest in the room, some to tears! SEPHLI is very grateful and honored that the Colonel could serve as our guest of honor. Listen to an interview (podcast) with Colonel Walters.
Other notable speakers were Dr. Chris Musselwhite of Discovery Learning Inc, SEPHLI partner since 1998; Dr. Danny Martin of Cross River Connexions; Jeffrey Hansler of Oxford Press; and Dr. Ed Baker of the NC Institute of Public Health.
This year, 40 graduating and 41 incoming scholars were in attendance at the four-day leadership retreat. These outstanding individuals are hand-selected by their states to participate in this 12-month program. SEPHLI would like to thank the states of Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for their continued support.
