Raising Awareness of Animal Control Services in New Hanover County, NC
Wilmington, NC – Scholars Jean McNeil, DVM, and Bob Weedon, DVM, were featured on the front page of the New Hanover County Health Department August 2007 newsletter in an effort to raise awareness about the role of and services provided by New Hanover County’s Animal Control Services agency. This publication is just one outcome out of many outlined in Drs. McNeil and Weedon’s leadership project for SEPHLI.
The need for more momentum in raising rabies awareness and need to strengthen public health leadership is what drove Drs. McNeil and Weedon to apply to SEPHLI in Fall 2006. Since their acceptance into the program, both have invested a tremendous amount of energy in making a positive impact in New Hanover County through building key community partnerships and increasing rabies disease awareness to the public.
