Meet the 2011 Scholars

Stacie R. Turpin Saunders, MPH, BS

Stacie Turpin Saunders began her public health career in 2007 at the Alamance County Health Department. Stacie managed the Targeted Infant Mortality Reduction grant and created a preconception health education program utilizing motivational interviewing with funding.
Since 2009, she has been involved in program planning for the Health Department and community partners in a multiagency collaboration. Stacie currently manages the preconception health education program, the Latino family planning outreach program, and the March of Dimes Community grant which funds CenteringPregnancy prenatal care at the Health Department. In addition to these duties, she is responsible for grant writing, program design, program implementation, and evaluation. She is also actively involved in the Quality Improvement 101 team. Stacie serves as the chairperson for the local infant mortality reduction coalition.
Stacie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Radford University in 2000. She received a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in 2007.
In addition to her duties at the local health department, Stacie is involved in the NC Preconception Health Strategic Plan work-group, the Child Fatality Task Force Perinatal Health Committee, and the March of Dimes Program Services Committee.
