Lan Tran-Phu, MD

Lan Tran-Phu currently serves full-time as the Medical Director for Cumberland County Health Department. Lan worked in Public health in France for the Women’s and Children Branch as a staff pediatrician. In the USA, Lan has worked at the Cumberland County Health Department since 1998, as a staff pediatrician and also as the Family Planning Medical Director. Since 2007, her tasks expanded to encompass supervision of many departments such as Communicable Diseases, Epidemiology, Dental Health, Child Health, Women’s Health, Adult Health, Male Reproductive Health, Vaccination program, Jail Health, Pharmacy, Laboratory etc... With all the different responsibilities that helped her grow very fast in her diverse roles, Lan does need to learn leadership skills in order to better lead her teams and to better serve her community.

Lan is a certified yoga teacher and plans to teach yoga at her Health Department in the beginning of the year, to help everyone stretch and keep everyone calm and smiling....

Lan has three children. One graduated from UNC-CH and went on to obtain her MBA in London. The second one is a senior at MIT, and third a freshman at Duke.

In her spare minutes, Lan rescues dogs and cats from the pound and find them good homes...

Therefore, she is a busy woman… (an understatement).
