Elizabeth Zurick

Elizabeth Zurick is a Policy Advisor for the Chronic Disease and Injury Section at the North Carolina Division of Public Health.  Elizabeth is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevetion (CDC) assignee to the Section from the Division of Adult and Community Health in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.  As the Section Policy Advisor, Elizabeth helps form the Section policy platform which encompasses issues related to chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, cancer, and arthritis and chronic disease risk factors, including physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco use.

Before moving to North Carolina, Elizabeth worked at the CDC as a US Congress liaison to CDC’s appropriations committees.  She began her career at CDC as a Presidential Management Fellow, within which she pursued rotations within CDC’s Office of the Director and at the Hawaii State Department of Health in the Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch.  Her MPH from Boston University is in International Health with a focus on management and finance.  She holds an MA from the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor in Southeast Asian Studies and studied as a Fulbright Scholar in the Philippines exploring Filipino women’s access to reproductive healthcare. 

Elizabeth is married to a wonderful man, Andy.  Together they enjoy running marathons, cooking, and traveling.
