Janet Spears Turner, MNSc, MPH

Janet currently serves in a leadership role with the Arkansas Department of Health, providing leadership in the development of standards for colleagues engaged in direct care patient services for the Southeast Public Health Region, one of the poorest areas of the state. Janet is a registered nurse practitioner with over 30 years on experience in nursing in a variety of leadership and management roles as well as direct care service. She has worked both in the public and private sector.
Janet began her nursing career as a licensed practical nurse and obtained her BSN and later MNSc from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Nursing. She is an alumni of the South Central Public Health Leadership Institute and the Arkansas Public Health Science and Management Leadership Institute. Janet received her Masters in Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2002. Currently, Janet serves as an adjunct instructor and mentor for the UAMS College of Nursing. She is also a member of the Arkansas Public Health Association, Arkansas Public Health Nurses Association. American Nurses Association, Arkansas Nurses Association, and lifetime member of the Arkansas Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates. Janet is an associate member of the Association of State and Territorial Directors of Nursing.
