Dr. Yinmei Li
Epidemiologist
Tennessee Department of Health
Yinmei Li has been employed as an epidemiologist with the Tennessee Health Department for the past four years. She currently directs the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Evaluation Section in the Office of Policy, Planning and Assessment, which provides epidemiological support, geographic information system support and other technical assistance to the Department and other state agencies. She is particularly interested in chronic disease epidemiology and surveillance, cost analysis, application of statistical and epidemiologic methods to public health practices, geographical distribution of disease burdens and health disparities. She enjoys her work and is proud to be part of the public health workforce working toward improving the health of Tennesseans. Prior to working in the field of public health, Yinmei practiced medicine in China, where she earned her medical degree from Shanghai Medical University. She also holds an MS in Experimental Statistics and a PhD in Veterinary Medical Sciences from Louisiana State University. While at LSU she conducted research on tuberculosis at the National Hansen’s Disease Center. Yinmei is married with two sons, and enjoys playing with her kids, reading, and gardening.
