Meet the 2008 Scholars

Linda Henderson

Linda Henderson, RN, BSN, MBA, MHA, FACHE
Director of Nursing
Lee County Health Department, NC

Linda began her healthcare career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  At the time she entered the program, her children were 2 years, 4 years, 6 years, and 8 years old.  Shortly after completion of the LPN course, she earned her Diploma in Nursing from Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD. After completing this program, she pursued a BSN from Barton College in Wilson, NC. Immediately after graduating with her BSN, she attended graduate school at Pfeiffer University in Charlotte to earn both an MBA and MHA. During this time, her family continued to grow and she currently has six children.

She has worked as a clinician in Intensive Care (CCU) and/ Cardiovascular Intensive Care (CVICU) nursing for more than 20 years. In addition, her healthcare experience includes Clinical Informatics Management and Director of Nursing for Critical-Care Services.  As Director of Nursing, responsibilities included oversight of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Electrophysiology and Pacing Laboratory, County Emergency Medical System, and Emergency Department.  

Linda also served as Director of Nursing, Continuing Education for Southern Regional AHEC. During this time, she taught nursing courses for University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She also taught classes in the 9-county area that were in the Southern Regional AHEC region.

She is board-certified in Critical-Care Nursing, Advanced Nursing Administration, and Healthcare Management. Additionally, she is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. (FACHE).

In her leisure time, she likes to travel, spend time at the beach, swim, read, plays the piano, and of course, spends time with her family.
