Dr. Tornquist taught scientific writing to nurses, physicians,
and public health professionals for over 30 years. She also
consulted with universities and corporations and international
organizations such as the World Health Organization and the
World Psychiatric Association on technical and scientific
writing. Before her retirement, she taught writing in the
Public Health Leadership Program at the School of Public
Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and
served as editorial consultant to faculty at the School of
Nursing. She continues to work with the Research Support
Center at the School of Nursing to teach workshops on writing
for publication and writing grant proposals, and to provide
editorial consultation and assistance to nurses, physicians,
and health care professionals around the country.
