Until April, 2002, Russ Moxley was a Senior Fellow and Director,
Nonprofit Initiatives at the Center for Creative Leadership, a nonprofit
research and educational organization headquartered in Greensboro,
North Carolina. Now he designs and delivers leadership development
workshops in for-profit and nonprofit organizations, does executive
coaching, consults with organizations to help them develop a systemic
approach to leadership development, facilitates formation retreats,
and directs the work of the Center for Leadership and Ethics at
Greensboro College. In addition, Russ is a well-known public speaker.
Russ is the author Leadership and Spirit (1999), published by Jossey-Bass.
He is also co-editor and one of the authors of the Center for Creative
Leadership Handbook for Leadership Development (Jossey-Bass, Spring,
1998), and for several years was the editor of the Center for Creative
Leadership's Ideas Into Action guidebook series.
Outside the Center, Russ serves on the governing board of the Association
of Spirit at Work, and on the board of the Communities in Schools
in Greensboro. Last year he rotated off the board of the International
Leadership Association.
Before joining the Center for Creative Leadership in 1984, Russ
worked for several years as Manager, Management and Organization
Development, for ARCO Alaska in Anchorage. He had previously served
on the HRD staff at ARCO Oil and Gas in Dallas, and prior to that
Russ had for ten years been a principal in a training and development
firm headquartered in Dallas. Russ has a bachelors and master's
degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Together, Russ and his wife, Jean, have six daughters and two grandchildren.
