Dr. Jean Marie Malecki is a native South Floridian, and has resided for the past 30 years in Palm Beach County. She graduated from high school (Rosarian Academy) in West Palm Beach, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University in Connecticut. Her medical degree was received from New York Medical College where she graduated with honors, including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Upon completion of an internship and additional training in OB/GYN, she pursued a masters degree in public health at the University of Miami School of Medicine as well as additional formal training in general preventive medicine and public health. She is board certified in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health. She is also a Fellow of the American Board of Preventive Medicine and Public Health. She is an alumnus of the Public Health Leadership Institute, a national program that trains public health professionals for leadership positions.

In l99l, Dr. Malecki was appointed to the position of Health Officer for Palm Beach County. This health department is the largest in the State of Florida, and is recognized nationally for its innovation, creativity and quality of services. She directs the only nationally-accredited, county health department-based residency program in the United States that trains physicians in the field of preventive medicine and public health. She holds faculty appointments at two medical schools and is Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. In the fall of 2001 Dr. Malecki lead the investigation team for the first case of inhalation anthrax due to bioterrorism in the state of Florida.

She lectures nationally on public health issues, including HIV/AIDS, managed care, and bioterrorism. She has received numerous awards, teaching and research grants, and belongs to many professional and community-based organizations. She has published numerous scientific, peer reviewed articles in both local and national medical journals.

Dr. Malecki has dedicated her professional career to the health and welfare of her community and to the principles of preventive medicine and public health.
