Bio

Dr. Kathleen Edwards is Collegiate Professor and Program Director, Health Care Administration, Graduate School, University of Maryland University College (UMUC), Adelphi, Maryland, where she also teaches in the UMUC Executive MBA program.

Dr. Edwards teaches face-to-face and on line graduate courses on The U.S. Health Care System, Public Health Administration, and Institutional and Organizational Management in Health Care. Dr. Edwards also teaches Executive MBA seminars on communication, ethics, conflict management and negotiation and organizational change and creativity.

Dr. Edwards has formerly served as Director of the Maryland State AIDS Administration, as Frederick County, Maryland, Public Health Officer, and as Assistant Commissioner of Health for the City of Baltimore, Maryland. She has also worked with the Prince George's County, Maryland Health Department in a variety of positions, as well as in a community hospital in the District of Columbia.

Her Doctoral and Master's Degrees were earned at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and her Bachelor's Degree was earned at the University of Maryland.

The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) is one of the eleven degree granting institutions of the University System of Maryland (USM). UMUC is especially known for adult education and distance learning for working professionals who are interested in enhancing their management and leadership skills. The UMUC Graduate School offers a number of areas of specialization. Among them is the Health Care Administration (HCA) program, which offers the M.S. in Health Care Administration, a certificate in Health Care Administration, and a Health Care Administration track within the Master of Science in Management degree.
