Laying the Groundwork to Build Partnerships Across Public Health and Community Health Centers
This year's SEPHLI Institute will provide public health and community health center leaders the opportunity to learn the leadership skills needed to embrace the new realities of health care and public health in 2011.'In the midst of health care reform changes, this promises to be an opportunity of a lifetime to forge partnerships and collaborations that will break down silos and create lasting systemic changes in your state and the Southeast.
The six-month SEPHLI curriculum combines two short on-site retreats with a mixture of distance learning offerings.
Individuals will also complete a challenge project and individual leadership plan.
- Kick-off retreat— March 1-3, 2011 in Chapel Hill, NC
(begin at 1pm on the 1st, through noon on the 3rd)
- Distance learning— April-September, 2011
- Graduation retreat-- Mid-September 2011 (exact dates and location TBA)
Cost is $1500 per scholar (does not include travel and lodging)

Eligibility Criteria
This year's Southeast Public Health Leadership Institute
is aimed at experienced health professionals who
are strongly motivated to develop leadership skills
that will aid in the building of a stronger public
health workforce and community health system.
Senior and midlevel managers with five years of
experience in public health and one year current
tenure in a local, district or state public health
department are eligible to apply. Individuals with key roles in community
health preparedness such as health care practitioners,
local and state policy makers, community health volunteers,
business professionals and local first responders
are invited to apply.
Every effort will be made to select a cohort of
scholars that has broad professional, geographic,
ethnic, racial and organizational representation
Application Process
We are now accepting applications for the upcoming SEPHLI class of 2011. Simply fill out the online application for consideration.You will be asked to upload your resume and a statement of purpose. The statement of purpose should be a one page description of why your involvement in this leadership institute is important for you and your personal/professional development. Include how you plan to use these skills to improve your organization and build partnerships between public and community health in your community. Please detail the support you have from your supervisor/branch or section chief.
The application deadline is February 18th.
